Welcome to FCPL Unplugged!
FCPL Unplugged! is the Forsyth County Public Library's wireless/wired Internet access hotspot service that allows Library patrons to gain filtered access to the Internet and the Library's networked resources using their own personal laptops or other compatible devices.
Wireless Quick-Start, Unsecured Setup (Print Quick Start Guide - PDF format). Your wireless device may not need any configuration changes in order to access FCPL Unplugged! However, if you are not immediately able to connect, configure your laptop/device as follows: Network Type - "Any available network (access point preferred)" or "Access point (infrastructure) networks only" mode SSID - FCPLUnplugged Disable WEP and/or WPA Enable DHCP or set IP address to autoconnect Remove all existing browser proxy settings Consult help pages for more detailed instructions and additional setup options. FCPL Unplugged! Requirements. In order to access the Internet or any other networked resources via the FCPL Unplugged! service, you must first: Have a Forsyth County Public Library library card and know your PIN (Personal Identification Number). Own a compatible laptop or other compatible networked device. For wireless access, a wireless network interface card operating on one of the standards 802.11a/b/g is required. Note: Bluetooth is not supported. Provide your own network patch cable if accessing FCPL Unplugged! via a wired connection. Provide your own compatible headphones if planning to use audio files. Bring a charged battery or sit in a location where power is immediately accessible. Be located within signal range of a FCPL Unplugged! Wireless Access Point or have your laptop's network cable plugged into a designated FCPL Unplugged! wired port (located near a "Plug Into FCPL Unplugged!" sign). Configure your laptop or other device for use with FCPL Unplugged!, connect to the network, and open your Internet browser as outlined in the FCPL Unplugged! help pages. Note: you will not be able to connect to the network unless your network cable is plugged into a designated port or you are located within FCPL Unplugged! wireless signal range.

Configure your laptop or other device for use with FCPL Unplugged!
Accept the security certificate that the Library's system sends to your browser. (You may only need to do this the first time you use FCPL Unplugged!)
Accept the usage Terms and Conditions outlined in the Forsyth County Public Library Wireless/Wired Internet Access policy.
Login to the FCPL Unplugged! service using a Library barcode and PIN.
