FCPL Unplugged! Printing Quick Start Guide
Do you need to print to a Library printer from your personal laptop? You can send your print jobs to a Print Release Terminal at your Library Branch via an LPT:One Print Client. You will be charged for print jobs at the same rate as patrons using Library-owned computers.
To install the Print Client, go to http://laptops.forsythpl.org/printing/default.aspx and follow the directions below. On this webpage you will also find a video of Print Client installation.
Installing the LPT:One Print Client:
You must reinstall the LPT:One Print Client each time you visit the Library and wish to print from your personal laptop.
To install, click on the link to the branch in which you are located (Cumming or Sharon Forks).
After clicking on the designated link, another dialog is displayed prompting you to Run or Save:
Select to Run the Clientlauncher.exe file. (Note: If a Windows Security Warning is displayed asking if you want to run the clientlauncher.exe, select Run for each prompting.)
If User Account Control is enabled on your Vista or Windows 7 system, you must select Yes to allow the printing program to run on your computer:
An End User's License Agreement (EULA) will now be presented:
Review this agreement and choose Accept or Decline. (Note: choosing Decline will cause the Print Client to not start).
If you are running Vista or Windows 7, you may be prompted to install printer drivers at this point. There may be up to six such requests. For each request, you must select Install Driver:
The LPT:One Print Client window will appear in the task bar indicating that the Print Client application is running.
Printing with the Print Client:
Select Print within the application from which you wish to print and follow the dialog instructions.
Select the color or black and white printer that was installed by the PC and complete the printing process.
A User Identification window will now appear. Type in the full barcode from your library card and select OK.
A new dialog will appear and report the number of pages to print, cost per page, and the total cost for the job. Review the information and select OK if it is correct;; if incorrect, select Cancel.
A delivery confirmation screen will now appear. This screen will include a list of all Print Release Terminals from which the print job can be printed.
Uninstalling the Print Client:
When you have finished printing, either click on the Print Client application box in your task bar and select Stop Print Client or simply shut down your laptop. The Print Client application will disappear.
